Eden Demonstration Test Catchment in collaboration with the Northern Soils Network present:-

The Eden Open Day at Newton Rigg Demonstration Centre, Penrith

Thursday 14th July 2011

We would like to invite you to the Eden Demonstration Test Catchment Open Day, which is to be held at our new Newton Rigg Demonstration Centre, Penrith on Thursday 14th July 2011. We very much hope you will be able to attend.

Over the last few months we have been spending our time both building the partnerships and also installing technical infrastructure in the Eden, to help us take the science forward. We have identified four areas in Pow, Newby and Thackthwaite, with a central demonstration catchment and farm centre at Sewborwens Farm at Newton Rigg.

The Demonstration Test Catchments (DTC) Project is a joint Defra, Environment Agency and Welsh Assembly Government initiative working in three river catchments – the Wensum in Norfolk plus the Eden (Cumbria) and Avon (Hampshire). The DTC Project aims to evaluate the extent to which on-farm mitigation measures can cost-effectively reduce the impacts of water pollution on river ecology while maintaining food production capacity.

We have attached the programme for the open day and hope you will find this of interest. I would be grateful if you could complete and return the attached reply form by Friday 8th July, if you or another colleague from your organisation is able to attend. (If possible please reply by email to [email protected] or by telephone on 01524 593968).

Yours faithfully,
